Our client is a family-owned lumber business who has successfully weathered the storms (literal and figurative) over 50 years. They have sawmills across the west coast of North America and pride themselves on being stable, respectful members of the communities they serve. As they continue to grow, they are seeking an inspired Human Resources Manager with a strong Safety focus to oversee their British Columbia operations, based out of Burns Lake, BC.
Les tâches
Responsible for planning, implementing various safety program and compliance training programs.
Ensure legal compliance and bet practices throughout human resources and safety management.
Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and handle worker’s compensation claims.
Assist with full-cycle recruitment and employee development processes.
Provide support and motivation to engage employees and increase performance.
Maintain employee information, pay plan, and benefits program while adhering to privacy standards.
Ensure legal compliance and bet practices throughout human resources and safety management.
Carry out additional tasks as required.

Exigences du poste
Bachelor’s degree in human resources or relevant education is essential (CPHR is a definite asset).
Extensive knowledge of employment standard act, WCB, Labor and Safety law.
At least some years of hands-on Safety related experience is must as well as HR related activities in the Sawmill or forestry or any other relevant industry environment.
Experience in a unionized working environment is essential.
Proficient in HRIS software, reporting tools, metrics, databases - there are many and you understand when and how to use each.
