As an investment firm located in downtown Montreal, the controller will be responsible for managing the finances of a wealthy family, handling stock investments, personal tax returns, and accounting data entry.

Tasks

  • Oversee and track stock transactions and investment portfolios.
  • Follow exchange rates, interest rates, and economic trends that may impact investments.
  • Prepare and manage the family’s personal tax returns.
  • Advise on tax optimization and investment strategies to minimize tax burdens.
  • Ensure the accurate entry and tracking of accounting data within internal systems.
  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Work closely with the external firm (EY) to manage complex accounting tasks and financial audits.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Be a member of the CPA Order.
  • Bilingual (written and spoken) in French and English for the English-speaking clientele based in Quebec (40%).
  • At least 5 years of experience in accounting.
  • Knowledge of stock market investments and personal tax strategies.
  • Experience in wealth management for high-net-worth clients, ideally with knowledge of foreign currencies (an asset).
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of CTRL software (an asset, but training provided).
