Our client, a well-established and stable retail company, is seeking a Accounting Technician ready to become a key contributor within the finance department, supporting operations across Canada and the United States. Tasks

  • Manage the full accounting cycle, including daily transactions, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and monthly and annual closings.
  • Oversee the entire accounts payable process: invoice processing, purchase order matching, approvals, and payment preparation.
  • Perform monthly financial analyses (P&L, general ledger, balance sheet, cash flow) and identify variances, trends, and improvement opportunities.
  • Actively participate in the preparation of budgets and forecasts in support of the finance leadership team.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation required for internal and external audits.
  • Perform rent and tax reconciliations, ensuring payment accuracy and proper accounting entries.
  • Serve as a technical reference for the accounting team by helping prioritize tasks, optimize processes, and support colleagues on a daily basis.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders (vendors, internal teams) to resolve operational and accounting issues.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to work methods, tools, and accounting systems.
  • Perform any other related duties.

Job requirements

  • AEC, DEC, or DEP in Accounting or Finance (Bachelor’s degree accepted if completed outside Canada).
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar accounting role, including full-cycle accounting.
  • Strong Excel skills, including advanced functions (VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, pivot tables).
  • Comfort working with accounting systems and managing high volumes of transactions.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Advanced bilingualism in French and English (spoken and written), with English used approximately 50% of the time to communicate with English-speaking clients.
  • Experience with U.S. accounting (an asset).
