Our client is currently seeking an Assistant Controller for its Blainville location. Recognized as a major player in the distribution of packaging, supplies, and equipment across North America, the company stands out for its sustained growth and strong presence in Canada. In this role, you will actively contribute to the production and reliability of financial information. You will be involved in period-end activities, account analysis, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.

Tasks

  • Participate in monthly and annual closings.
  • Prepare and analyze journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Review financial results to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform transactional data analysis and identify variances.
  • Support audits by providing required information and documentation.
  • Contribute to the improvement of accounting processes and cost control.
  • Collaborate with various internal teams and support financial planning activities.
  • Review work prepared by other team members.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards (GAAP) and internal policies.
  • Participate in the implementation of new standards and various financial projects.
  • Perform any other related tasks.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • CPA designation (an asset).
  • Bilingualism required (French and intermediate English), approximately 50% of the time, to communicate with English-speaking colleagues.
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Proficiency with MS Office (advanced Excel skills are an asset).
