Our client, a well-established family-owned company in the automotive industry, is seeking a Body Shop Manager for its collision repair division. In this role, you will oversee day-to-day operations, supervise a team of technicians, coordinate and monitor repair activities, and ensure quality, productivity and adherence to deadlines. Your expertise in vehicle damage estimating will also be essential, as you will serve as a key resource for more complex files and be responsible for handling estimates when required.
Tasks
Plan daily and weekly shop operations based on priorities, deadlines and team capacity.
Assign work to technicians and closely monitor repair progress.
Coach, support and motivate the team to achieve performance objectives.
Participate in daily meetings and ensure all required follow-ups are completed with stakeholders.
Track shop performance metrics and recommend solutions to improve productivity and operational profitability.
Perform quality control inspections throughout the repair process and inspect vehicles before delivery.
Prepare damage estimates and manage appraisal files when required.
Ensure proper follow-up, communication and documentation for files involving insurance companies.
Manage more complex or sensitive cases involving customers, insurers or customer satisfaction concerns.
Ensure all required parts are available before repairs begin and collaborate with purchasing personnel.
Oversee vehicle organization and movement throughout the shop.
Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment and ensure shop equipment is operating properly.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization.
Support various human resources activities, including interviews, performance evaluations and vacation planning.
Assist with shop operations as needed to support the team and ensure workflow continuity.
Perform all other related duties.

Job requirements
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in collision repair, bodywork and automotive refinishing.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar management or supervisory role overseeing a repair shop and a team of specialized technicians.
Thorough understanding of every stage of the collision repair process, from initial assessment to vehicle delivery.
Significant experience with vehicle damage estimating, claims management and communication with insurance companies, as well as the ability to independently manage appraisal files.
Strong knowledge of automotive parts, repair costs and procurement processes.
Experience using industry-specific estimating and collision repair management software such as NexeraSys, Mitchell and Qapter, or equivalent systems.
Ability to establish and monitor performance metrics and identify opportunities for operational improvement.
Customer service experience and the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally.
Ability to work both in an office setting and directly on the shop floor.
Fluency in French, both spoken and written.
Relevant training in mechanics, collision repair, management or a related field is considered an asset.
