Our client, a well-established distribution company located in the Eastern Montérégie region, is seeking a Buyer who will play a key role in managing procurement activities and supplier relationships. The successful candidate will work primarily with suppliers across Canada, as well as certain partners in the United States, to ensure product availability and optimize purchasing conditions.
Tasks
Negotiate annual commercial agreements with suppliers.
Manage product lines under your responsibility, from product creation in company systems to handling returns, complaints, and excess inventory.
Develop and maintain strong supplier partnerships through regular follow-ups, strategic meetings, and on-site visits.
Act as a product resource for the Sales and Customer Service teams by conducting supplier research, product evaluations, identifying new opportunities, and coordinating sample requests.
Support internal knowledge development by providing product training and coaching on new market trends and developments.
Monitor market trends and analyze price fluctuations to ensure optimal cost management and profitability.
Oversee equipment related to the product categories under your responsibility and ensure proper operational follow-up.
Collaborate closely with various departments to optimize procurement processes and improve overall supply chain performance.
Perform any other related duties as required.

Job requirements
Postsecondary education in Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered.
Experience in purchasing within distribution companies.
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
Bilingualism (French and English) is required to communicate frequently with English-speaking suppliers, who account for approximately 90% of daily interactions.
