The CAD Engineer – Inventor Specialist plays a key role in optimizing and standardizing 3D technical designs. As an expert in Autodesk Inventor, the person in this role is responsible for modeling, technical support, and the development of automation solutions, while contributing to the continuous improvement of design processes.

Tasks

  • Verify mechanical feasibility and optimize designs for manufacturability.
  • Manage CAD configurations, libraries, and parameters.
  • Develop and maintain CAD standards.
  • Ensure proper management and structure of CAD files.
  • Automate repetitive tasks using iLogic or VBA.
  • Create internal tools to improve efficiency for Inventor users.
  • Support the integration of new versions or complementary tools (Vault, iLogic).
  • Provide technical support for Inventor to internal teams.
  • Train users and promote best practices.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and purchasing departments.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical recommendations.
  • Perform any other related duties.

Job requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical training.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and good knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment (sheet metal, welding, assembly) (an asset).
  • Knowledge of manufacturing standards and best practices in Product Data Management (PDM).
  • Strong ability to explain and transfer knowledge (training, coaching).
  • Analytical mindset, creativity, and a strong sense of innovation.
  • Autonomy, attention to detail, and strong work ethic.
  • Excellent communication skills and team spirit.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
