Our client, a manufacturing company specializing in the fabrication and processing of metal parts, is currently seeking a CNC Operator Assistant to support production activities at its facility located in Montreal's West Island.
Are you hands-on, versatile, and enjoy actively participating in the various stages of metal product manufacturing? This position will allow you to support CNC operators in organizing and planning work while performing various finishing, preparation, and hardware installation operations on metal parts. This is an excellent opportunity for a resourceful individual looking to develop their skills in a technical manufacturing environment and gradually gain greater autonomy.
Tasks
Support CNC operators and other team members in various production and preparation tasks.
Read and interpret basic manufacturing drawings to identify dimensions, threaded holes, countersink operations, and other required processes.
Complete required production documentation, maintain a clean work environment, and follow health and safety procedures.
Move parts and materials between workstations according to production needs.
Count, identify, sort, and handle parts carefully to ensure accurate quantities and prevent damage.
Perform dimensional inspections using calipers, measuring tapes, thread gauges, and other common measuring instruments, and inspect parts to verify compliance while reporting any anomalies or non-conformities.
Operate a Timesaver machine to deburr and finish metal parts.
Perform various secondary operations, including milling, countersinking, and tapping, according to manufacturing drawings.
Use a PEM insertion press to install various types of hardware, including nuts, studs, and standoffs.
Verify the type, dimensions, location, and orientation of PEM hardware before and after installation.
Use various shop tools and equipment, including drills, grinders, sanders, and tapping or deburring tools.
Perform any other related duties as required.

Job requirements
Experience in metal fabrication manufacturing, technical production, or a similar hands-on position.
Strong manual dexterity, attention to detail, and the ability to work standing, safely handle metal parts, and identify defects or quality issues.
Comfortable using hand and power tools in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with a Timesaver machine, PEM insertion press, or similar equipment is considered an asset.
Ability to perform milling, countersinking, tapping, and deburring operations.
Ability to read and understand basic manufacturing drawings.
Comfortable using measuring instruments, including calipers and thread gauges.
Autonomous, versatile, and capable of following work procedures after training.
Team-oriented with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn different production operations.
