Our client, an architecture firm located in downtown Montreal, has entrusted us with the task of recruiting a Controller for a key position within their organization. This role offers significant autonomy and encompasses both operational and strategic responsibilities. If you have an entrepreneurial mindset and wish to revitalize an accounting department with the support of a leadership team ready to trust you quickly, while showcasing your skills in accounting, payroll, and financial management, this position is for you. In addition to social benefits, our client offers a flexible schedule with two mobile days and the possibility to distribute the 37.5-hour work week over four and a half days throughout the year. Tasks

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate all operational functions related to accounting.
  • Manage the accounting team (1 employee).
  • Coordinate the activities of external auditors.
  • Provide the management with essential information for decision-making.
  • Oversee regulatory obligations, including tax planning and compliance.
  • Prepare the complete accounting cycle.
  • Close the monthly accounts.
  • Prepare financial statements.
  • Manage work in progress and record necessary adjustments.
  • Manage payroll, salary adjustments, and employment records.
  • Process expense accounts (via payroll).
  • Ensure follow-up and communication with CIBC, Revenu Québec, CNESST, clients, consultants, etc.
  • Verify bank reconciliation.
  • Handle all other related tasks.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a similar position within a service company – essential.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written French.
  • Experience in financial strategy – an asset.
  • Experience in ERP system implementation – an asset.
