As part of a mandate for a company operating in the transportation and logistics sector, we are seeking a Health, Safety and Compliance Supervisor. The selected candidate will work closely with management teams, dispatch, drivers, and various departments to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations in accordance with regulatory requirements. The role involves acting as a key reference in health and safety, supporting field operations management, and ensuring compliance with internal and external standards applicable to road transportation.

Tasks

  • Recruitment / Onboarding / Training
  • Participate in the recruitment of drivers and owner operators.
  • Prepare and deliver orientation and onboarding programs for new drivers.
  • Driver Follow up / Compliance / Training
  • Act as a resource person for drivers and provide ongoing support and coaching.
  • Maintain up to date employee files and training records in accordance with applicable standards (SAAQ / DOT).
  • Ensure ongoing driver training.
  • Monitor driver file compliance.
  • Conduct audits of internal policies and procedures.
  • Track performance indicators (scorecards) and provide coaching.
  • Fleet Safety / Compliance / Incidents
  • Produce and analyze compliance reports (NIR, CSA).
  • Ensure follow up on safety and compliance programs (FAST, CTPAT, TWIC, PIP).
  • Monitor roadside inspections and ensure appropriate follow up.
  • Participate in accident and incident investigations.
  • Review ELD / HOS reports.
  • Manage emergency procedures and incident response (spills, interventions).
  • Other Responsibilities
  • Support the dispatch team based on operational needs.
  • Perform any other duties related to health, safety, and compliance.

Job requirements

  • Bilingualism (French and English), approximately 50% of the time, to communicate with English speaking stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage conflicts and resolve issues effectively.
  • Solid understanding of risk management and occupational health and safety compliance.
  • Strong organizational and priority management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety laws and regulations.
  • Ability to analyze data and performance indicators.
  • Valid Class 1 driver’s license (mandatory).
  • Experience in tanker transportation (an asset).
  • Clean driving record.
