Our client is looking for a heavy vehicle mechanic specialized in engines for their evening shift to support workshop operations and ensure accurate diagnostics as well as high-level repairs. The company is well-established in the heavy vehicle sector and is recognized for the quality of its service, technical expertise, and structured work environment. They are currently looking for a specialist capable of addressing complex technical issues, in a context where rigor, efficiency, and professionalism are essential. In this key role, you will be required to perform advanced diagnostics, specialized repairs, and maintenance directly in the workshop. You will play an important role in identifying defects, planning repairs, and executing work according to applicable technical standards. This position is aimed at an experienced, resourceful, and autonomous mechanic, capable of handling complex issues, particularly in engines, electronic systems, and various mechanical components of heavy vehicles.

Tasks

  • Analyzing information provided on the work order to make an accurate and efficient initial diagnosis.
  • Identifying the source of defects and establishing the procedure for necessary repairs.
  • Carrying out mechanical work in compliance with recommended methods, quality standards, and applicable requirements.
  • Ordering necessary parts and components to complete the repairs.
  • Keeping and identifying replaced parts when required, especially in warranty cases or at the client's request.
  • Checking the general condition of the vehicle to detect any anomalies, maintenance needs, or additional interventions to recommend.
  • Communicating promptly with the foreman about any observed issues or additional work to be scheduled.
  • Rigorously documenting repairs and technical findings in the file.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe workspace, vehicle, and workshop.
  • Participating in offered training and staying updated on procedures, work methods, and technical bulletins.
  • Properly using tools, lifting equipment, and materials provided while adhering to health and safety rules.
  • Performing any other related tasks necessary for the smooth operation of the workshop.

Job requirements

  • Training in heavy vehicle mechanics, construction equipment, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Completed and up-to-date Cummins or MX Paccar certifications.
  • Extensive experience in advanced diagnostics, especially in electronics, engines, and related systems.
  • Strong proficiency with electronic diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation in both French and English (20% of the time).
  • A toolbox suitable for the job requirements.
  • Good physical condition to carry out the tasks required by the position.
