Our client, a well-established Quebec-based company with over 30 years of experience in the transportation and logistics sector, is looking to welcome a Human Resources Manager to its team. The company has over 100 employees spread across multiple sites. In a context of growth and change, it aims to continue updating and improving its processes and procedures while reviewing the structuring of its HR practices. Reporting to management, the selected candidate will play a key role in handling HR functions, supporting managers, and collaborating with various departments, including accounting and health and safety (H&S).

Tasks

  • Oversee the organization’s main HR functions, including staffing, HR administration, manager support, absence management, and updating policies and procedures.
  • Update internal policies, the employee handbook, employment contracts, and job descriptions.
  • Coordinate H&S follow-ups, including file management, deadlines, compliance, administrative rigor, absences, and illnesses.
  • Support the hiring and renewal of closed work permits, as well as follow-ups related to the permanent status of certain employees.
  • Develop and enhance HR guidelines and tools.
  • Manage staffing and recruitment for various positions, both operational, administrative, and professional.
  • Advise managers on their daily HR challenges.
  • Ensure follow-ups with accounting regarding payroll, absences, leave, and other related administrative matters.
  • Sit on the local H&S committee as well as the management committee on a monthly basis.
  • Serve as a point of reference for employees and maintain an active presence within the organization.
  • Participate in discussions with directors and team meetings as required.
  • Optimize internal practices to better structure roles, support leaders, and promote greater team stability.
  • Perform any other tasks related to the responsibilities of the position.

Job requirements

  • DEC or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of HR experience in an SME environment.
  • Knowledge of HR realities in SMEs.
  • Experience supporting managers and structuring/updating HR practices, policies, and tools.
  • Experience in a generalist HR role.
  • Experience working closely with senior management.
  • Excellent command of French, both spoken and written.
  • Functional English for reading and writing emails (30% of communications in English).
  • CRHA designation is a major asset.
