Our partner, a Quebec engineering firm focused on innovation and continuous improvement, with a mission to strive for excellence at all levels, is looking for an industrial draftsman at its Chambly branch. The company operates primarily in the agri-food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical sectors. As an industrial draftsman, you will help deliver custom-made projects for clients. Your main role is to turn dreams into reality by transforming ideas into drawings.

Tasks

  • Design 2D plans on AutoCAD.
  • Develop and update Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).
  • Create 3D layout drawings (AutoCAD) based on piping design and instrumentation drawings.
  • Draft technical documentation as needed.
  • Develop technical specifications when required.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all designs, modifications, and specifications.
  • Conduct site surveys.
  • Work closely with the engineering team and project managers to ensure the technical feasibility of drawings and compliance with client specifications.
  • Thoroughly understand custom manufacturing processes, including piping, machining, welding, and assembly.
  • Actively participate in the continuous improvement of manufacturing processes by suggesting innovations and optimizations.
  • Ensure clear communication with various departments.
  • Perform any other tasks required by the position.

Job requirements

  • DEC in mechanical engineering, industrial design, or any other relevant training.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an industrial draftsman – equipment designer.
  • Experience in the field of industrial instrumentation.
  • Fully bilingual to serve a bilingual clientele (mostly English-speaking suppliers).
  • Proficiency in design and drafting software (AutoCAD 2D – 3D, Solid Edge, SolidWorks).
  • Comfortable with computers and a good knowledge of Collabox or SAP software.
  • 5 years of experience in engineering, electromechanics, welding, etc. (asset).
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering in a relevant discipline (asset).
