Tasks

  • Coordinate and plan intermodal movements (containers and trucks).
  • Efficiently dispatch drivers according to operational needs and terminal schedules.
  • Monitor inbound and outbound containers (tracking, deadlines, and status updates).
  • Communicate with rail terminals, railway companies, and customers.
  • Optimize equipment movements and reduce downtime.
  • Schedule pickup and delivery appointments at terminals.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (warehousing, billing, and operations).
  • Manage unexpected issues related to rail delays or terminal constraints.
  • Ensure deadlines and customer commitments are met.
  • Maintain up-to-date tracking and dispatch systems.
  • Perform all other related duties as required.

Job requirements

  • Experience in transportation dispatching (intermodal experience is a major asset).
  • Knowledge of CP and CN rail networks (an asset).
  • Good understanding of transportation and trucking operations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational and stress-management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with various stakeholders (customers, terminals, and drivers).
  • French and English bilingualism required to communicate effectively with English-speaking customers and drivers (approximately 20% of the time).
  • Comfortable using tracking systems and dispatch software.
  • Knowledge of transportation and logistics (an asset).
