Are you a self-employed professional looking to take on more assignments as a labor relations consultant, with expertise in collective bargaining? We are seeking talented and experienced independent consultants to join our network of professionals. If you have at least five years of experience in labor relations in a unionized environment and an excellent knowledge of collective agreements and Quebec labor legislation, we want to meet you!

Tasks

  • The primary role of the labor relations consultant is to support the on-site HR team at a unionized manufacturing plant. In an in-person capacity (2 days per week), the consultant will handle the following key tasks:
  • Advise the HR team and management on labor relations strategies and the management of union-related issues.
  • Analyze and interpret collective agreements to ensure their proper implementation.
  • Participate in proactive dispute resolution and maintain a harmonious work environment.
  • Prepare the strategy and documentation for the upcoming collective bargaining session scheduled for fall 2026.
  • Monitor best practices and trends in labor relations within the manufacturing sector.
  • Collaborate with managers to develop consistent approaches that respect legal and contractual obligations.
  • Perform other related tasks as required.

Job requirements

  • University degree in industrial relations, law, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in labor relations, ideally in a unionized and manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in collective bargaining.
  • Availability to travel to the client site two (2) days per week.
  • Excellent knowledge of Quebec labor laws and collective agreements.
  • Strong communication, influence, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency with office tools (Word, Excel, PDF, etc.).
  • Rigor and political awareness.
  • Coaching and negotiation abilities.
  • Good time and priority management.
  • Professionalism and discretion.
  • Proactivity and ability to resolve complex issues.
