Labour Operators – Plant Shutdown (8 Week Project)

Brookfield, Nova Scotia $24.45/hour + Overtime After 40 Hours We are currently hiring motivated and safety focused Labour Operators to support an upcoming industrial plant shutdown project. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy hands on work, teamwork, and a dynamic industrial environment.

Tasks

  • Perform overall cleaning and housekeeping in plant operating areas
  • Clean material spills and move contaminated materials
  • Empty waste containers and assist in preparing equipment for maintenance
  • Remove ice/snow and maintain safe access routes
  • Operate mobile equipment (forklift, skid steer, telehandler, sweeper, man lift, scissor lift) when required
  • Assist as a safety watch for work at heights, confined spaces, and hot work
  • Conduct field level risk assessments and pre use equipment inspections
  • Follow safety procedures, SOPs, and report any unsafe conditions
  • Maintain green areas and complete basic painting tasks
  • Support shutdown operations in tight or elevated spaces and variable working conditions

Job requirements

  • No formal education required; Grade 12 an asset.
  • Experience in labour, industrial, or cleaning roles is an asset but not mandatory.
  • Experience with manual tools or basic equipment (forklift, skid steer) is an asset.
  • Must be safety oriented, reliable, and able to follow procedures.
  • Comfortable with physically demanding tasks:
  • o heavy shoveling
  • o lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling
  • o working at heights and in confined areas
  • o exposure to dust, heat, cold, or humidity
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend for long periods.
  • Must use proper judgment in lockout/tagout zones.
  • Participation in all required training is mandatory.
  • Valid ANGO and MWP permits are an asset.
  • Must be available for the full 8 week duration.
