We are looking for an experienced Industrial Mechanic to join a Quebec-based marine company specializing in shipbuilding, vessel repair, and marine services in the heart of Gaspésie.

Tasks

  • Assemble, repairs and maintains marine engines, mechanical components and propulsion systems
  • Installs and services rigid, flexible, centrifugal and hydraulic couplings
  • Performs basic machining, drilling, and assists with scaffold assembly
  • Converts measurements between imperial and metric systems
  • Identifies required tools and equipment based on job specifications
  • Positions chain hoists and lifting points to ensure safe rigging and lifting operations
  • Supports Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) management system activities onsite
  • Performing all other related duties as required.

Job requirements

  • Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) in mechanics, plumbing and heating, or another related field (industrial maintenance, mechanical maintenance, or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems and principles of ball and roller bearings (fixed and free)
  • Knowledge of welding principles, oxy-fuel cutting, and steel tack welding
  • Experience in a shipyard environment is a strong asset.
  • Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
