Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Plant Director is responsible for all activities related to production, maintenance, planning, and continuous improvement. This strategic role is key to ensuring the overall performance of the plant, compliance with quality and safety standards, and team engagement in achieving operational goals.

Tasks

  • Supervise and oversee daily plant operations in line with production plans.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and internal policies.
  • Conduct regular occupational health and safety (OHS) inspections.
  • Manage production staff: recruitment, performance management, discipline, attendance.
  • Oversee team training, coaching, and cross-functionality.
  • Plan and distribute workloads through production supervisors, ensuring clear communication.
  • Use ERP tools and other software to maintain strong operational tracking.
  • Generate and present reports on production results.
  • Supervise the engineering department and external maintenance contractors.
  • Participate in daily production reviews and monitor achievement of targets.
  • Optimize productivity, costs, and delivery times.
  • Develop and implement clear and consistent procedures.
  • Foster a positive and engaging work environment focused on performance and collaboration.
  • Perform any other related duties.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, operations management, or a related field.
  • MBA, management training, or Lean/Six Sigma certification (assets).
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in manufacturing, including 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary teams and driving continuous improvement.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, planning, and industrial maintenance.
  • Knowledge of OHS standards and strong adherence to their implementation.
  • Fluency in French and English, both spoken and written, to ensure effective communication with U.S.-based teams.
  • Experience with ERP systems and IT tools (MS Office, Microsoft 365).
  • Inspiring leadership, organizational skills, ability to manage change and motivate teams.
