Post-Casting Technician – Heat Treatment and Cleaning

Tasks

• Monitor molding removal and part cleaning operations while ensuring compliance with technical instructions and specifications.
• Ensure that heat treatment processes (high-temperature treatment, cooling, and stress relieving) comply with prescribed temperatures and durations to achieve the required hardness and microstructure.
• Program heat treatment furnace recipes based on the alloys being processed.
• Evaluate the hardness of treated parts, inspect them for cracks, and take the necessary corrective actions.
• Track quarantined parts (under evaluation or non-conforming) in close collaboration with the Quality Inspection Department.
• Ensure compliance with heat treatment sequences and arrange parts on loading trays in batches of similar dimensions.
• Install and adjust spacer blocks under parts to ensure straightness and dimensional accuracy.
• Prepare reports on heat treatment processes and test results.
• Coordinate the transfer of treated parts to the cleaning department.
• Actively contribute to health and safety and quality initiatives by reporting any non-conforming conditions or situations.
• Perform all other related duties as required.

Job requirements

• College diploma (DEC) in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Metallurgical Engineering Technology, or another relevant technical discipline; equivalent experience in blueprint reading or industrial processes will also be considered.
• Experience in a manufacturing, metallurgical, or industrial environment (foundry experience is considered an asset); recent graduates are welcome to apply.
• Experience supervising personnel is considered an asset.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clear direction and build effective working relationships.
• Self-motivated and able to perform effectively under pressure.
• Strong organizational, planning, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Proactive mindset, curiosity, and consistency in day-to-day work.
• Availability to work rotating 12-hour day and night shifts.
• Excellent command of French, both spoken and written.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
