Our client, a well-established company in the field of steel structure manufacturing, is an expert in delivering large-scale projects across various sectors of the economy. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Production Director is responsible for planning, organizing, leading, participating in, and controlling production activities within their sector. They are also expected to maintain strong working relationships with their team and all staff members, acting as a liaison between the operations supervisor and the plant. This role involves approximately 60% production management and 40% human resources, materials management, and quality control.

Tasks

  • Planning, organizing, and supervising production activities according to priorities.
  • Scheduling work based on team members’ skillsets.
  • Monitoring performance, ensuring quality, and generating required reports.
  • Leading and motivating the team to achieve productivity and quality goals.
  • Promoting a positive work environment and addressing interpersonal issues when needed.
  • Managing material resources.
  • Optimizing the use of materials and equipment.
  • Performing other related duties.

Job requirements

  • Experience in production management (planning, quality control, schedule supervision), ideally in steel structures, metal works, and/or welding-assembly.
  • Proficiency with administrative tracking tools (reports, scheduling, absences, occupational health and safety).
  • Experience in materials and cost management (maintenance, inventory, purchasing).
  • Basic knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software (an asset).
  • Health and safety certification or training in continuous improvement (an asset).
