Our client is a rapidly growing Canadian manufacturer recognized for its commitment to quality, innovation, and operational excellence. Driven by a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, the organization is seeking a hands-on Team Leader who will actively contribute to production while guiding and supporting a high-performing team. Reporting to the Production Manager, the Team Leader – Batching will initially perform senior-level batching duties while preparing to transition into formal leadership responsibilities. This is a highly hands-on role, with approximately 85% of the time dedicated to production activities and 15% to team coordination and leadership. The successful candidate will lead by example on the production floor, ensuring quality standards, production schedules, and safety requirements are consistently met while supporting team development.

Tasks

  • Production & Manufacturing
  • Prepare and execute production batches according to established formulas and specifications.
  • Weigh and measure raw materials using precision equipment.
  • Operate industrial mixers and monitor key parameters, including speed, sequence, and cycle times.
  • Validate production results throughout the process to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Accurately perform metric and imperial unit conversions.
  • Handle and store chemical products in compliance with safety procedures and SDS requirements.
  • Safely operate both sit-down and stand-up forklifts.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and ensure machinery is in proper working condition.
  • Support inventory movement and material handling activities.
  • Leadership & Team Coordination
  • Provide daily guidance and support to production employees on the shop floor.
  • Communicate priorities and ensure tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Act as the first point of contact for operational issues and employee questions.
  • Assist with workforce planning, scheduling, and coverage.
  • Support onboarding and training of new employees.
  • Participate in performance management and employee development initiatives.
  • Promote compliance with quality, safety, and operational procedures.
  • Contribute to the development and documentation of processes and best practices.
  • Perform any other related duties as required.

Job requirements

  • Experience in industrial manufacturing, chemical manufacturing, or a related environment.
  • Proven leadership experience or strong leadership potential in a production setting.
  • Experience operating industrial mixers, batching equipment, and precision weighing systems.
  • Strong understanding of metric and imperial measurements.
  • Valid forklift certification (sit-down and stand-up).
  • Experience handling chemicals and following safety protocols is an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a strong sense of ownership.
  • Excellent communication skills in French, both written and spoken.
  • Technical diploma (DEP or equivalent) considered an asset.
  • Physically capable of working in an active manufacturing environment.
