Our client, a third-generation family-owned company specializing as a general contractor, is looking to continue expanding its multiplex construction division while maintaining its residential and commercial operations. In this context, we are seeking an Estimator / Project Manager to join the team. The selected candidate will primarily be responsible for preparing construction estimates while also contributing to project coordination and follow-up based on their experience. They will work closely with management, professionals, and subcontractors to prepare competitive bids and support the successful execution of projects.
Tasks
Participate in the development and monitoring of project schedules in collaboration with the superintendent and project management team.
Analyze plans, specifications, addenda, and tender documents to determine project scope and requirements.
Prepare cost estimates for multiplex residential and commercial construction projects.
Perform quantity takeoffs and establish costs related to materials, labour, equipment, and subcontracting.
Solicit subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing required for bid preparation.
Analyze, compare, and validate quotations received from subcontractors and suppliers.
Develop and maintain a database of reliable subcontractors and suppliers across various construction trades.
Build a network that enables the acquisition of multiple competitive quotes for each trade and sector.
Identify missing elements, risks, and specific conditions within plans and specifications that may impact project costs or execution.
Prepare and finalize bid submissions in collaboration with management.
Participate in the continuous improvement of the position, team, and company.
Assist, based on needs and experience, with project start-up and follow-up activities to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to execution.
Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, professionals, suppliers, and subcontractors throughout all project phases.
Utilize available technology tools, including Procore and the Microsoft Office Suite, to ensure effective project tracking.
Perform any other related duties to support project success.

Job requirements
College diploma (DEC) or bachelor's degree in Estimating, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Project Management, or another relevant field, or equivalent experience.
Minimum of five years of relevant experience in construction project estimating.
Hands-on estimating experience acquired with a general contractor.
Experience estimating multiplex residential and commercial projects.
Ability to independently manage the complete estimating process for multi-million-dollar projects, from document review to bid submission.
Strong knowledge of the subcontractor and supplier market within Quebec's construction industry.
Ability to develop and maintain a network of subcontractors and suppliers across various construction trades.
Excellent ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and technical documents.
Thorough knowledge of construction methods, materials, equipment, and the realities of the Quebec construction industry.
Strong proficiency with technology and computer tools.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software, particularly Procore.
Excellent command of French, both spoken and written.
Additional experience in construction project management is considered a significant asset.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or PMP certification is considered an asset.
