Our client is a well-established organization in the transportation and moving industry with a strong presence in the Montreal market. Supporting residential moving operations, the company is known for managing complex logistics while maintaining a high standard of service for its customers and business partners.
Our client is seeking an experienced Dispatcher to oversee the day-to-day coordination of local and long-distance residential moves from its Montreal operation. Reporting directly to the General Manager and supervising an Operational Support Administrator, this hands-on role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes initiative, and can effectively manage changing priorities throughout the day.
Tasks
Coordinate and dispatch approximately 5 to 6 moving crews on a typical day, with volumes reaching up to 10 crews during peak periods.
Plan and coordinate local and long-distance residential moves, including interprovincial and cross-country shipments.
Work closely with contracted moving agencies and drivers to communicate schedules, job requirements, load details, delivery requirements, and changes.
Coordinate with external transportation partners, including Atlas Van Lines, on long-distance moves and related logistics.
Monitor daily operations and proactively address scheduling changes, service issues, delays, staffing concerns, and other operational challenges.
Maintain accurate dispatch information and ensure important details, commitments, and follow-up items are not overlooked.
Respond promptly to emails and operational requests, gather required information, and ensure all outstanding items are followed through to completion.
Communicate effectively with moving crews, agency partners, customers, internal employees, and management while handling difficult or time-sensitive situations professionally.
Supervise and provide direction to an Operational Support Administrator responsible for functions such as billing, document scanning, and email support.
Work closely with the General Manager to identify recurring operational issues and implement practical solutions.
Perform any other related duties associated with the position.

Job requirements
Ideally, 3+ years of dispatch experience within the residential moving industry. Candidates with slightly less experience may be considered if they demonstrate exceptional aptitude, initiative, and industry knowledge.
Direct experience coordinating local and long-distance residential moves is strongly preferred. Familiarity with Atlas Van Lines or a similar moving network is considered a significant asset.
Functional proficiency in French for professional communications.
Excellent command of English, required to communicate with offices located in other provinces (approximately 50% of the time). Knowledge of Spanish is considered a strong asset.
Proven ability to multitask, adapt quickly to changing priorities, retain critical operational details, and remain organized despite frequent interruptions and last-minute changes.
Highly proactive, solution-oriented, coachable, and comfortable following up persistently, handling difficult conversations, and taking ownership of issues without requiring constant direction.
