As part of an organizational restructuring, our client is looking for a Health, Safety, and Environmental Advisor to structure, implement, and promote a strong and human-centered prevention culture. Reporting to the general management with a functional link to the corporate SST (Health and Safety) department, the selected individual will play both a strategic and operational role, working closely with on-site teams.
This position, based in Rimouski, involves 40 to 60% travel on the main vessel and to the serviced ports. It’s a key opportunity to contribute to a meaningful and structuring project.
Tasks
Health and Safety:
Implement corporate SST initiatives and contribute to the development of harmonized local procedures.
Conduct field tours, audits, and risk assessments at sites and on vessels (loading, handling, etc.).
Engage teams in promoting a proactive and human-centered prevention culture.
Design and deliver tailored, engaging, and easy-to-understand training.
Lead or support incident investigations and ensure follow-up.
Participate in local SST committees and the annual management system review.
Identify gaps, anticipate risks, and recommend viable and well-adapted corrective measures to the company’s culture.
Serve as a liaison and provide constructive and strategic information at the corporate level.
Environmental:
Support projects and systems aimed at reducing environmental impacts.
Participate in the collection of environmental performance indicators and audits.
Actively promote environmental protection to the crews.
Ensure compliance with practices in line with ISO requirements, if applicable.

Job requirements
College degree in Occupational Health and Safety (DEC) or equivalent experience (minimum 4 years if no DEC).
Practical experience in SST prevention in operational environments (ideally maritime, industrial, or food processing sectors).
Strong knowledge of provincial and federal SST laws and regulations.
Ability to conduct rigorous risk assessments.
Knowledge of ISO, Lean/5S, WHMIS, confined spaces, lockout/tagout, working at heights.
