Tasks

  • Coordinate and plan intermodal movements (containers / trucks).
  • Assign drivers efficiently based on operational needs and terminal schedules.
  • Track incoming and outgoing containers (tracking, timelines, statuses).
  • Communicate with rail terminals, rail companies, and clients.
  • Optimize equipment movements and reduce downtime.
  • Manage pickup and delivery appointments at terminals.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (warehousing, billing, operations).
  • Handle unforeseen issues related to rail delays or terminal constraints.
  • Ensure deadlines and client commitments are met.
  • Keep tracking and dispatch systems up to date.
  • Perform other related tasks as needed.

Job requirements

  • Experience in transport dispatching (intermodal a major asset)
  • Knowledge of CP and CN (an asset)
  • Good understanding of transportation / trucking
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent organizational skills and stress management
  • Strong communication with various partners (clients, terminals, drivers)
  • Bilingual in French and English (often required, travel 30% of the time)
  • Comfortable with tracking systems and dispatch software
  • Knowledge of transportation and logistics (an asset)
