Payroll is much more than numbers; it's what allows the company and its employees to move forward with confidence. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of payments for our teams in Canada and the United States. Your mission? Ensure that every payment is accurate and compliant, while staying agile in the face of daily challenges. You will work closely with the HR and Accounting teams to resolve issues efficiently and maintain smooth communication with employees. With your expertise in tools like ADP Workforce Now, you will play a key role in ensuring the company operates at full capacity!
Tasks
Be responsible for payroll management in Quebec and, upon request, payroll in the United States.
Process bi-weekly or weekly payroll using Desjardins and ADP Workforce Now.
Maintain payroll records, ensuring accuracy of worked hours, wages, deductions, bonuses, and taxes.
Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, state, and local payroll, wage, and working hours laws.
Ensure compliance with all legal requirements related to payroll and employee benefits, including tax filings, ACA, COBRA, and ERISA.
Prepare reports and audits related to payroll and benefits for both internal and external stakeholders.
Maintain confidentiality of employee information and ensure data security.
Provide exceptional customer service to employees regarding payroll and benefits inquiries.
Manage the onboarding and offboarding of Canadian employees in payroll and benefits systems.
Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other departments to ensure smooth process management.
Oversee employee benefit programs (health, dental, life, etc.) and act as an intermediary between employees and providers to resolve benefit-related issues.
Perform any other related tasks.

Job requirements
Full payroll experience, from execution to reporting.
Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now and/or Desjardins.
Ability to analyze data, detect discrepancies, and improve the customer experience.
Build trust with leadership and employees, and positively influence change.
Proactive, able to identify improvements and work independently.
Find innovative solutions in a dynamic environment with an entrepreneurial mindset.
Proficiency in advanced functions (formulas, pivot tables, etc.).
Handling sensitive data with discretion.
Valid driver’s license, as the person will need to travel by car.
Advanced proficiency in both French and English for communication with U.S. employees (50% of the time).
