As the Maintenance Director, you’ll be responsible for the complete management and coordination of mechanical, electrical, and mobile equipment maintenance activities across the plant. This strategic role aims to ensure equipment reliability, optimize operational performance, and control maintenance costs while maintaining the highest safety standards. Reporting directly to the Plant Director, you will be a key member of the site’s leadership team.
Tasks
− Enforce and uphold all health and safety policies and procedures.
− Ensure compliance of all worksites and contracts with internal and legal standards.
− Develop and monitor a continuous improvement plan focused on safety performance.
− Supervise preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance for all equipment and infrastructure.
− Plan and coordinate both short- and long-term maintenance activities aligned with production goals.
− Lead root cause analyses (RCA) and implement sustainable corrective actions.
− Contribute to strategic planning, including budgeting, capital investment, and long-term development.
− Collaborate closely with procurement for subcontractor and service contract management.
− Prepare and manage the maintenance budget (approximately $10M) and capital expenditures.
− Lead capital projects, from justification and engineering to cost control and implementation.
− Build partnerships with key suppliers to improve reliability and reduce operating costs.
− Oversee a team of approximately 2 direct managers, 8 supervisors, and 30 hourly employees.
− Drive skill development, engagement, and succession planning within the department.
− Foster strong collaboration and communication between maintenance and production teams.
− Manage labor relations in a unionized environment with professionalism and fairness.

Job requirements
− Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
− 7–10 years of relevant experience in a heavy industrial environment (steel, aluminum, pulp & paper, cement, or similar).
