Under the supervision of Human Resources, the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Advisor plays a key role in fostering a safe work environment, coordinating prevention initiatives, and ensuring compliance with standards. Working closely with production teams, he or she actively contributes to establishing a proactive safety culture and supporting continuous improvement projects.

Tasks

  • Develop and update OHS training programs tailored to various roles and sites to ensure daily safety.
  • Identify risks and propose concrete actions to eliminate or effectively reduce them.
  • Conduct thorough investigations following incidents to understand root causes and prevent recurrence.
  • Support managers by providing practical assistance in the rigorous application of prevention measures.
  • Monitor compliance with rules, standards, and mandatory training while regularly raising team awareness.
  • Organize and deliver specialized training sessions (lockout/tagout, working at heights, WHMIS, first aid, etc.) to strengthen safety skills.
  • Lead emergency programs and coordinate prevention activities to maintain a healthy and secure environment.
  • Lead health and safety committees, follow up on action items, and maintain open communication with all stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with production teams to integrate safety at every stage of operations and promote a continuous prevention culture.
  • Perform any other related tasks.

Job requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in occupational health and safety, ideally in a unionized manufacturing environment.
  • Degree in industrial engineering, occupational health and safety, or a related field.
  • Expertise in project management and continuous improvement.
  • In-depth knowledge of OHS standards and regulations.
  • Proficiency in French and English, both spoken and written, to ensure effective communication with the team and North American partners, and to comply with OHS standards.
