Your role? Ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations to provide a safe and healthy work environment.
Tasks
Ensuring the update and compliance of operational documents related to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), including standards, laws, regulations, and client requirements.
Conducting audits, making recommendations, implementing preventive or corrective measures, and monitoring their application.
Participating in incident investigations, leading investigation teams, and overseeing the process.
Communicating improvement ideas and OHS-related issues to the management team.
Contributing to the annual evaluation of OHS management systems.
Monitoring operations on operational unit sites and vessels.
Identifying hazards and assess risks related to activities.
Participating in various committees and task forces.
Monitoring employee and supervisor OHS training.
Coordinating employee OHS training with team leaders.
Preparing necessary documentation to ensure active compliance with rules.
Analyzing trends in OHS-related incidents by identifying causes and implementing preventive measures.
Acting as a driver for change within the operational unit.
Performing any other related tasks.

Job requirements
DCS in Occupational Health and Safety Management, or equivalent.
Minimum of two years’ experience as an OHS generalist.
Experience in both federal and provincial jurisdiction jurisdictions, and in a unionized environment.
Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
Fully bilingual, both orally and in writing.
Excellent knowledge of laws and regulations related to occupational health and safety (COHSR, Canadian Labour Code, and other federal laws).
Experience in the maritime transport industry is an asset.
Availability for occasional travel.
