Our client is a growing company located on the South Shore of Montreal that has been in business for almost two decades. They have developed impeccable polypropylene expertise and offer high quality products to their customers in various sectors. They are currently looking for a superintendent for their Maintenance and Engineering Department. In this position, you will play an essential role in the distribution of tasks and coordination between different stakeholders. You will be involved in defining concepts, and budget and timeline management track capital expenditures. In addition, you will be the resource person responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of the plant's equipment. In this role, you will be the first responder in the management of daily operations. You will lead a qualified and specialized team, ensuring that projects are completed on time while maintaining the highest quality standards.

Tasks

  • Ensuring the appropriate level of cleanliness according to AIB, BRC, and HACCP requirements.
  • Ensuring effective communication between internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety procedures and quality standards.
  • Monitoring the material and equipment inventory, coordinating orders and replenishments with the Purchaser.
  • Directing and supervising all maintenance and engineering team operations.
  • Optimizing factory processes and procedures.
  • Planning, organizing, and coordinating all operations to achieve defined objectives.
  • Planning and organizing the human and material resources necessary for operations.
  • Planning, organizing, and establishing budgets and timelines specific to different projects.
  • Effectively managing and delegating equipment construction, installations, repairs, maintenance, and inspections.
  • Collaborating with other departments to ensure effective coordination of operations.
  • Defining project concepts (layout, sizing, functionality, etc.).
  • Training, supervising, and mobilizing your team (between 15 and 20 people) on a daily basis.
  • Participating in production operations when necessary.
  • Participating in research and development operations.
  • Actively participating in various committees (management, OHS, sustainability, ISO, etc.).
  • Ensuring compliance with quality standards.
  • Monitoring performance indicators as well as factory process and procedure audits.
  • Performing any other related duties.

Job requirements

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering or another engineering field (required).
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (required).
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience, including 5 years in a similar position.
  • Ability to travel at least once or twice a year to the United States, ideally once a year internationally to visit the different factories.
  • Ability to answer calls in support of maintenance issues during evenings and weekends.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 standards.
  • Knowledge of the plastic or paper pulp sector.
  • Knowledge of plastic extrusion equipment.
  • Ability to read plans and technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of production and improvement tools such as Gantt, MRP, Kaizen, 5S, Lean (an asset).
  • Ability to use different software such as the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and an ERP system.
  • Knowledge of AutoCad software (2D, 3D), SAP and Optivision.
  • Fluency in French and English, both oral and written (required to communicate with various predominantly English-speaking stakeholders).
