Our client, located on the South Shore of Montreal, is a growing company and has been in business for almost two decades. She has developed impeccable expertise in the field of polypropylene. The company offers high quality products to its customers in various sectors. The company is currently looking for a Superintendent for its maintenance and engineering department. In this position, you will play an essential role in the distribution of tasks and coordination between the different stakeholders. You will be involved in defining concepts, budget management and timelines to track capital expenditures. In addition, you will be the resource person responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of the plant's equipment. In this mandate, you will be the first responder in the management of daily operations. You will lead a qualified and specialized team, ensuring that projects are completed on time while maintaining the highest quality standards.


  • Ensure the required level according to the requirements of the AIB, BRC and HACCP.
  • Ensure effective communication between internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and quality standards.
  • Monitor inventories of materials and equipment, coordinating orders and replenishments with the buyer.
  • Direct and supervise all activities of the maintenance and engineering groups.
  • Optimize factory processes and procedures.
  • Plan, organize and coordinate all operations to achieve defined objectives.
  • Plan and organize the human and material resources necessary for operations.
  • Plan, organize and establish budgets and timelines specific to different projects.
  • Effectively manage and delegate construction, installation, repair, maintenance and inspection work on equipment.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective coordination of operations.
  • Define project concepts (layout, sizing, functionality, etc.)
  • Train, supervise, supervise and mobilize your team on a daily basis (between 15 and 20 people).
  • Participate in production activities when necessary.
  • Participate in research and development activities.
  • Actively participate in various committees (management, OHS, sustainability, ISO, etc.)
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Monitor performance indicators as well as audits of factory processes and processes.
  • Perform other related duties.

Job requirements

  • Hold a university degree in mechanical engineering or another field of engineering (required).
  • Member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec (required).
  • Have a minimum of 10 years of experience, including 5 years of relevant experience in a similar position.
  • Ability to travel at least once or twice a year in the United States, ideally once a year internationally to visit the different factories.
  • Ability to answer calls in support of maintenance issues during evenings and weekends.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 standards.
  • Knowledge of the plastic or paper pulp sector.
  • Knowledge of plastic extrusion equipment.
  • Ability to read plans and technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of production and improvement tools such as Gantt, MRP, Kaizen, 5S, Lean (asset).
  • Ability to use different software such as the MS Office suite (Windows, Excel, Outlook) and an ERP system.
  • Knowledge of AutoCad software (2D, 3D), SAP and Optivision.
  • Fluency in written and spoken French and English (compulsory for obligatory to communicate with the various mainly English-speaking speakers).
