Since our client operates in the maritime industry, you can expect stays of 1 to 2 weeks on board their ships and at their ports, where you will handle OHS matters, bringing along your at least 2 years of OHS experience to assist you wherever you go. Tasks

  • Ensure the update and compliance of operational documents related to OHS, including standards, laws, regulations, and client requirements.
  • Conduct inspections, propose recommendations, implement preventive or corrective measures, and monitor their implementation.
  • Participate in incident investigations, lead investigation teams, and oversee the process.
  • Communicate improvement ideas and OHS-related issues to the management team.
  • Contribute to the annual evaluation of OHS management systems.
  • Monitor activities on sites and ships of the operational unit.
  • Identify hazards and assess risks related to activities.
  • Participate in various committees and working groups.
  • Attend OHS training sessions for employees and managers.
  • Coordinate OHS training sessions for employees with team leaders.
  • Prepare necessary documentation to ensure active compliance with regulations.
  • Analyze OHS incident trends by identifying causes and implementing preventive measures.
  • Be a driver of change within the operational unit.
  • Perform all other related tasks

Job requirements

  • DEC in Occupational Health and Safety Management, or equivalent.
  • Two years or more of experience required as a generalist in OHS prevention.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Perfectly bilingual, both oral and written.
  • Excellent knowledge of occupational health and safety laws and regulations (RCSST, Canadian Labour Code, and other federal laws).
  • Experience in the maritime or cargo transport sector is a significant asset.
  • Availability for trips of 1 to 2 weeks during the busy period from June to November (approximately 5-6 trips per year).
