Our client, located on the south shore of Montreal and a key player in Quebec's sustainable economy, is seeking a Procurement Manager. In collaboration with various teams, the incumbent manages and implements the company's purchasing process regarding the procurement of raw materials, as well as services, consumables, and different components used for production. They cultivate long-lasting business relationships with suppliers to ensure deliveries are made on time, and within standards and costs. Tasks

  • Develop purchasing strategies and best practices aimed at cost control and reduction, as well as the quality of inputs.
  • Participate in the implementation and establishment of the purchasing and supplier component in the company's management system (ERP).
  • Ensure timely and competitive-cost procurement for the company’s operations, primarily raw materials consisting of biomass, non-recyclable residual materials, and chemicals.
  • Supervise all procurement activities and projects related to raw materials and supplier relationships.
  • Monitor the quality of materials by conducting inspections of goods and implementing quality control measures.
  • Establish the purchasing and procurement processes and parameters (raw materials, services, consumables, and various components) for the company.
  • Assist in and research logistics information in areas related to the procurement of chemicals, including the transport of hazardous materials and the customs clearance of imported goods.
  • Perform any other related duties.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or any related field.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in a senior buyer or supply chain manager role within a manufacturing environment, ideally in the chemical, refining, energy, or pulp and paper industries.
  • Experience in supplier evaluation and qualification, cost tracking and quality, as well as risk assessment.
  • Membership in the Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM) is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Bilingual in written and spoken English and French, with strong written French skills for drafting agreements.
