We are looking for a Data Analyst to join a development team composed of functional and technical analysts, system designers and architects, programmers, and QA testers. In this role, the Data Analyst will take on three key responsibilities; Developer, Client Support Analyst, and Data Correction.

Tasks

  • Analyze and improve FEngine’s processes, calculations, and data.
  • Collaborate with developers and colleagues to implement specifications.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues (bugs, data errors, etc.).
  • Respond to client requests and provide technical support.
  • Perform data corrections and modifications in MySQL.
  • Manage data import, processing, and validation in production.
  • Collect and analyze data to enhance system performance.
  • Document solutions and processes for tracking and follow-up.
  • Perform any other related tasks.

Job requirements

  • Understanding of financial instruments (stocks, fixed income, mutual funds, options), book value, market value, capital gains/losses, returns, and investment-related financial calculations.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented development concepts: classes, inheritance, relationships, multiplicity, and data types (simple and complex).
  • Knowledge of MySQL and SQL (data extraction and modification), Java is an asset.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel for data analysis, batch files, and regular expressions for automation.
  • Basic understanding of the object-oriented programming paradigm.
  • Intermediate proficiency in English for communication with clients and writing 30% of the time.

Desired profile

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to abstract and apply logical reasoning. Good understanding of mathematical concepts (e.g., iterative algorithms for internal rate of return calculations).
  • Comfortable with fast-paced changes.
  • Enjoys working in a team on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Adapts quickly to new situations.
